Addison Rotary Meeting December 5, 2007 Members present:
Guests: Cathy Olivi, Joe Block, Roseanne Benson,Dick Delawder, Bruce Mensinga, Dennis Reboletti Meeting opened at with song, the Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch. Cal George reminded members of the Christmas dinner and play on December 20 th at Pheasant Run. Bill Schaub announced that members could add to the citrus fruit order until Friday, December 7. He will order some additional fruit, as well. The ATHS choir will sing at the meeting on December 12. A Christmas gift exchange is scheduled for the December 19 meeting. Purchase, wrap and bring a $20 gift to that meeting. Cal shared information about the Rotary's partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is offering a $100 million matching funds challenge grant to help the Rotary's PolioPlus program reach its goal of eradicating polio. The PolioPlus program began in 1985 from the efforts of one Rotary club in the Phillipines. Don Weiss introduced the speaker, Representative Dennis Reboletti, who is completing his first year as a state representative. Reboletti spoke about the issues involved with funding. Currently in DuPage County , for every $1 that goes to Springfield , 17 cents returns to DuPage. Projects in Addison that will be receiving some state money include the Center for the Arts at Addison Trail High School , Serenity House, a new traffic signal by Centennial Park and the Town Center . He addressed the possibility of increasing revenue by opening three new casinos and having slot machines at the racetracks. Reboletti answered questions from the audience. Scott Helton won the weekly raffle. Guests were introduced. The meeting adjourned at 1:20p.m.
