Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
Guests: Iqbal Atcha, WalMart Meeting was opened with America , Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch. Gary Sinagra introduced Iqbal Atcha who visited the meeting today. Iqbal mentioned that the telephone contact number on the District website needs to be updated, since it the number on the website was Bernie McCoy's. Cal George read thank you notes from two Interact members who had attended the Leadership Program and from Emily Stern of Rebuilding Together Aurora 35 th Anniversary/Christmas outing is on December 12 at Pheasant Run. Dinner is at 5:45pm. “A Christmas Story” will follow. Dinner reservations were called in on Monday, December 1. There will be no meeting on Christmas Eve, December 24. The following members are responsible for speakers at upcoming meetings: January 7 – Tom Geraghty Citrus sale orders must be turned into Bill Schaub. He will be placing the order this Friday, December 5. Fruit should be delivered to McGill next Thursday, December 11. Pickup days are scheduled for Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12. December 17 meeting will include caroling by Addison Trail's Shades of Blue as well as the Christmas gift exchange. Because both events are scheduled for the same day, we will begin the meeting that day at 12:00 noon. Bring a $20 gift for the gift exchange. Rotary International Convention will be held on June 21-24, 2009 in Birmingham , England Simeon Carson announced the Lutherbrook's Bowl-A-Rama is being held at Stardust Bowl on February 7 & 8, 2009. Individual bowlers are invited to sign up and sponsorship opportunities are also available ( $250, $500, $1000, and $2000 and up). Last year $75,00 was raised. This year's goal is to raise $85,000 in order to purchase a van for transporting students around town and for extracurricular resources for Lutherbrook Academy . George Ellefsen will be attending the wrap-up meeting for the 2008 Mayor's Community Charity Ball. He will find out what funds were raised for Rotary at that meeting. Don Weiss reported that the entire event raised approximately $56,000 this year. Meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m. |
