Addison Rotary Meeting November 7, 2007 Members present:
Guests: Chris Lucero Meeting opened at with the Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch. Don Hendricks shared information about the Village Tree Lighting event that is scheduled for Friday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m. The Rotary will be singing two Christmas songs with the Indian Trail Show Choir and the Kiwanis. There will be a practice at Indian Trail on Thursday, November 29. Don will have copies of the music for participants. Fruit Sale packets of information will distributed by Bill Schaub and Cal George. Fruit will be sold for $27/carton. A mixed box of oranges and grapefruit costs $29. Gift boxes are also available. Orders must be turned in by November 30. Fruit will be stored at MacGill with pick up dates of December 13 and 14. Members were encouraged to actively pursue sales opportunities. Tickets for the car raffle need to be sold! Bill Schaub displayed and distributed the new, simpler posters made to advertise the raffle. Sohila Parsi introduced the guest speaker, Tom Mooney. Mooney is a financial planner who shared information about the stock market and historical trends. He spoke of the US economy in terms of the world market and he shared statistics about the national deficit and the impact it will have on Social Security and health in the near future. Mooney explained that, for investors, the withdrawal phase has totally different results than the accumulation phase and that investors need to understand that in order to plan effectively for retirement. Chris Locero won the weekly raffle. The meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
