Meeting opened at with the Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch.

Scott Helton introduced Addiston Trail staff members Ed Buck, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, and Iridia Nevarez-Niewinski, Dean.

Iridia Nevarez-Niewinski shared information about a student club, L.A.D.I.E.S., which was formed in response to the school's concern about increased fighting between girls. The club was quite successful in its first year, attracting a large number of students and addressing topics such as violence, teen pregnancy, careers, post-secondary issues and more. This year the club hopes to become more service oriented, becoming involved with organizations like PADS. A boys' group has also been formed. Both organizations plan to increase involvement with the junior high, bringing the issues that concern them to students at the younger level.

Ed Buck spoke about the work being done at ATHS to work with parents and adults, stressing the importance of their involvement and cooperation. Parent meetings are held every Thursday night, covering a variety of topics such at college financial aid, gang awareness and parenting teens. Calling All Fathers is a parent group that meets to share information specifically with fathers. 5 & Dine meetings are held in local homes, where volunteers invite their neighbors to come to meet, visit and talk with school officials about kids. Other programs, including the student mentor program and the Parent Outreach program (Saturday mornings at ATHS) are ways the high school is working to engage adults and help them become effectively involved in students' lives.

Raffle tickets were sold. Bob Watson won the weekly raffle.

The program for the October 3 will be about Rotary initiative Job 1.

The meeting adjourned at 1:18 p.m.
