Addison Rotary Meeting

Meeting opened at with the Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch.

The Addison Public Library has requested that the Rotary sponsor one of their raffles. The Rotary could sponsor the raffle of one of the glass blocks that will be installed in the new library.

Don Hendricks shared information about the student mentor program that operates through the Addison Business-Education Partnership Council. Adults are needed to spend 30 minutes per week visiting with a student at Addison Trail or Indian Trail. This visits take place at the school while school is in session (October to May). The mentor training session will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 7:30am at Indian Trail Junior High.

Bob Watson shared invitations to an event on September 13 celebrating the first anniversary of the Lake Street Harris Bank.

Tom Geraghty gave a presentation on Driscoll Catholic High School . Geraghty shared a recently produced informational video and brochures about Driscoll with the group. Driscoll houses 400 students in a faith-based, nurturing environment and operates on a $4 million annual budget. As president of Driscoll, Geraghty focuses primarily community outreach and finances.

Driscoll will be conducting its annual Helpathon on September 26. Students and staff participate in day of community service, helping at a wide variety of locations. This fundraising/service project raises approximately $65,000 for the school.

Raffle tickets were sold. Bob Watson won the weekly raffle.

Brian Anderson, a past director of Rotary will be speaking at the September 19 meeting about the Rotary's overseas relief fund..
