Diane Junokas reminded club members to consider volunteering for the student mentor program at Indian Trail Junior High and Addison Trail High School . Adult volunteers are needed to spend a half hour each week during the school year meeting with a student. Students who are selected for the program are considered ‘on the verge of success'. These are students who would benefit from having a positive adult role model. An informational/training meeting is being held on Thursday, September 24, 7:30-9:30am at Indian Trail Junior High.

Irene Boutzarelos announced that the Addison Center for the Arts is hosting its Fall Into the Arts dessert-wine reception/fundraiser at Village Hall on Friday, September 25 from 7-9:00pm. The ATHS Orchesis and Dean Constantopoulos' choral group will be performing. Student artwork will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10.

George Ellefsen encouraged everyone to sell their raffle tickets for the Mayor's Ball. He has additional tickets available.

George also asked Scott Helton to choose a date for the Interact/Rotary annual lunch meeting.

Cal George announced that the Kiwanis are holding their President's Installation dinner on October 9 at 7:00pm at Solace. Dinner will be $17. Rotarians are invited to attend.

The LCFS Harvest Gala will be held on Saturday, October 24 at the Mid-America Club. Tickets are $175.

Don Hendricks and Gary Sinagra will be attending a conference planning meeting at the Doubletree in Downers Grove on September 21 at 6:00pm. Any interested club members are invited to join Don and Gary in attending the planning meeting.

Guest Steve Jansen, past president of Elmhurst Rotary, read The Trumpeteer , from his recently published book, Secrets of Mirror Lake and Other Short Stories . Steve later answered questions about his writing. Copies of the book were available for sale, with $1 from each book sale being donated to Shelter Box, a Rotary-supported initiative that provides tents and supplies that are used for disaster relief.

The meeting adjourned at 1:28pm
