Bob Smith introduced his guest, Bill Smith. Bill was the charter president of the Addison Rotary Club in 1973 and he is currently active in a club he helped to begin in Florida .

Don Hendricks announced that we usually send two students to the Leadership Conference.

We will also need someone to serve as a host family for a few days when the exchange student that we are helping the Kankakee club sponsor comes to Addison for a visit.

Don introduced the speaker for the day, Ralph Jollette . Ralph and Joe Dattolo are co-leaders of Addison 's Boy Scout Troop 403. The troop has always done their best to raise fund for their outings and activities, but when they recently visited the Addison Kiwanis, they were encouraged to draw up a wish list of item that they could use help with funding. Don Hendricks encouraged them to visit Rotary and share information about their club and its needs.

Ralph and Joe are involved in Boy Scouts in order to keep kids together—having fun, learning about outdoor living, and preparing themselves to be responsible adults. Troop 403 has 18 scouts. Ralphie became an Eagle Scout last year. His Eagle project was to rebuild and restore a birds of prey resting area in the Itasca Nature Center . The troop has 4 more scouts who are upcoming Eagle Scouts—Joey Dattolo is next. Only 2-3% of Scouts complete the Eagle Scout requirements, which are quite extensive.

George Ellefsen offered a Coleman stove to the troop. George also made a motion, seconded by Don Hendricks to donate $450 to Troop 403 in order to purchase three tents. Motion carried.

District Governor Jim Czerwionka will be visiting the club next week.
