The meeting opened with “ America ”, the pledge, the 4-way test and prayer.

Matt Delawder presented information about Rotary's Hospital Equipment Logistics Program (HELP) which is a partnership between District 6450 Rotary clubs, Mission Outreach (Hospital Sisters of St. Francis), developing country hospitals and clinics and their local Rotary Clubs to bring medical equipment and supplies to countries and areas that need them.

Each day 7,000 tons of supplies and waste are discarded by hospitals in the United States . Mission Outreach is recovering supplies from hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois, warehousing and cataloging the supplies, and offering them free of charge to hospitals in need. The Rotary Club involvement requires that clubs pay for the cost of shipping and customs clearance. Any interested club can find a clinic that they want to assist, find a partner Rotary Club in the clinic's community to partner with and provide funds for shipping ($2500 for ½ container, plus customs and VAT). Personnel from the chosen clinic can check the supply database so they can order the supplies they need. HELP will work to coordinate clubs who wish to combine their efforts.

District and Foundation grants could be applied for in order to participate in the project.

The membership letter is being worked on. Club members expressed an interest in holding more social events. Remember to wear your Rotary pin.

George Ellefsen and Gary Sinagra shared information about the Mayor's Community Charity Ball which is being held on Saturday, November 21. George will distribute raffle tickets to sell---all funds collected from tickets sold by club members go to the Addison Rotary Club. This year we will also participate in the silent auction. Each organization can have up to 20 items in the auction. Pizza gift certificates, oil change certificates, wine basket and fused glass bracelets were some of the items that may be donated by club members.

Discussion was held about getting park benches with the Rotary logo for the Village Green. It was suggested that we might purchase materials and have ATHS shop classes build the benches.

Don Weiss described signs that are posted on backstops in Carol Stream parks. The signs have the name of the park, the location and a number to call in case of emergency. These signs are paid for by the Carol Stream Rotary. This would be an inexpensive project that could be helpful and increase the visibility of the Addison Club, if we wish to work with the Park District.

The meeting adjourned at 1:40pm
