Addison Rotary Meeting

Meeting opened with Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and luncheon.

 

Raffle tickets were sold for the TV raffle and the weekly raffle.

 

With the help of Sunrise , the Rotary will raffle a leased car this fall, a 2008 Malibu . Sunrise will help with promotion and artwork. They will bring a 2007 Malibu and photos of a 2008 to any event where the club wishes to publicize the raffle. Sunrise will also purchase a raffle ticket for anyone who comes in to the dealership to take a test drive. Raffle tickets will be sold at Community Days and around town. Tickets will cost $20. The winner will be selected at the end of December or the beginning of January.

 

Ron Burns shared information about the Arlington Park Rotary event to be held on August 26 at 11:00am. A box seat and bistro lunch are included for $16. Tickets can be ordered online or through Ron. Don Hendricks suggested that the Addison Rotary Club offset half the cost for Rotary members. Addison Rotary members can purchase their tickets through the club for $8.00.

 

The Sister Cities Committee fundraiser-dinner and a cruise on Lake Michigan-is being held on August 9, the same night as the Rotary's Sox game outing. Addison club members are being encourage to attend the Sister Cities event.

 

There will be an officers business meeting at 11:30am on August 1.

 

George Ellefsen requested that anyone who had leftover promotional materials from the last year's raffle of the green Mustang please bring those materials to the next meeting.

 

Don Hendricks inducted Jim Lesko as a new member of the Addison Rotary in the category of commercial banking. Jim Krage is Jim Lesko's sponsor.

 

George Ellefsen requested a 2007 Addison Trail football schedule from Scott Helton. He also requested permission to sell Malibu raffle tickets at the games. Volunteers will be needed to attend Addison Trail and Driscoll games in order to sell raffle tickets.

 

Jim Gregorio requested that the new club members share information about themselves with the group.

 

Jim Lesko is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan who has been at Oxford Bank for six years. He is a business banker who currently has a customer base of 100. He is a 'house call' banker, spending a great deal of time going out to meet and work with his customers. Jim is getting married next year.

 

Bob Watson is a senior personal banker with Harris Bank at their Lake Street location. He had previously worked for Motorola and for RPS in Addison . He feels his profession helps him know the community and what people want and that he hopes to share that knowledge with Rotary. Bob is getting married this fall.

 

Ben Gulino has been with National Bank of Commerce since February 2006. He has been in banking for 27-28 years---retail, business development, working with branches. He has a great deal of experience in building relationships. Ben is married with 2 children.

 

Don Hendricks mentioned that he met Ben through the mentor program where adults volunteer to serve as a mentor, visiting once a week with a junior high or high school age student. He invited others to volunteer to mentor a student.
