Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
The meeting opened with America , the Pledge, Rotary Motto, prayer and lunch. Cal George made the following announcements: Birthday/anniversary announcements will be resumed next week. This tradition includes singing and fines. District Governor Mike Slevnick will speak at the meeting on July 30. Applications for Rotary VISA cards were distributed. For every approved application where the card holder spends $75 in the first 90 days, Rotary will receive $25. $5million has been raised for Rotary through this program. In order to encourage new members, speakers will be invited to return to visit the Addison Rotary a second time for a ‘non-working' lunch. Bill Schaub agreed to serve as coordinator again this year for the citrus fruit fundraiser. Addison Community Days are Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10. Rotary will once again be sharing an information booth with School Districts 4 and 88 and the District 4 Foundation. Rotary will run a Split the Pot fundraiser charging $5 per ticket. Don Weiss will process the raffle application. Prize winners will be selected and announced on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 7:30p.m. Twenty volunteers are needed to man the beer tent along with Kiwanis on Sunday, Aug. 10 from 2-8:00pm (ten volunteers from each club). Rotarians could sell Split the Pot tickets from the beer tent. A sign-up sheet was passed around. Many more volunteers are needed. Cal suggested the following membership-boosting ideas: Have a Rotary Welcome Wagon where new businesses are invited to visit a meeting Invite presidents of other organizations for a Presidents' Day breakfast or luncheon Meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
