Meeting opened with Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and luncheon.

Don Hendricks introduced Art Davis, the District Governor for Rotary District 6450. Mr. Davis welcomed and installed Ben Gulino and Bob Watson as new members of the Addison Rotary.

Mr. Davis spoke about the history of Rotary International which began in Chicago in 1895 and now has 1.3 million members worldwide.

Rotary's theme for this year is "Rotary Shares." Davis explained that $1.3 million raised by District 6450 is invested so that all overhead costs are paid for by interest earned. Each local service club has all funds raised returned to the club after the investment period.

Addison 3153 exceeded its fundraising goal earning 117% of that goal last year. Addison Rotary was chartered in November, 1973.

Davis shared ways in which a local chapter can participate:

Contributions
Sending a team leader on Italy study trip
Host a foundation scholar
Dedicate one program a year to the foundation

The Rotary 'ship' includes:

Leadership
Fellowship - Aug. 8 Sox game, Aug. 26 Arlington Park
Membership
Relationship
Partnership projects with Easter Seals, Make a Wish, Heifer International, Alliance for Smiles, Operation Safe Wheels, Shelter Boxes.

Davis concluded by answering questions from the audience.

Dr. Hendricks suggested that the group might want to think about participating in the Sox game or Arlington Park social activities. Ron Burns will look into those events. Hendricks also encouraged the members to participate in the Sister Cities Committee's Lake Michigan cruise outing, also on August 8.

The meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
