The meeting opened with “ America ”, the pledge, the 4-way test and prayer.

Cal George welcomed guests and presented Jim Krage and Scott Helton with clocks in appreciation for their service to the Addison Rotary in 2008-09.

Copies of the draft raffle ticket were passed around.

The speaker for the day was Cathy Blair, from Giving DuPage. Giving DuPage was founded in 2001 as a vehicle to give people the opportunity to give back to the community. It is an organization that gathers and disseminates information about volunteer opportunities in DuPage County . Cathy shared copies of the 2008-2009 Giving Guide, a publication which shares contact information, mission statements and volunteer opportunities for charitable organizations in the county. She also encouraged visits to the website, www.givingdupage.org , for the most current information. Visitors to the site can search by location, cause or individual organization to find more specific volunteer opportunities. Any non-profit organization can register with Giving DuPage. Cathy shared that they have seen a surge in volunteerism in the past year, in spite of the difficult economic times.

Don Hendricks and Gary Sinagra reported on the Installation Dinner for District Governor Jim Czwonka, which they attended on Sunday, June 18.

Bill Schaub will be providing the speaker for the July 8 meeting.
