Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
Guests: Lisa Zucchero Cal George opened the meeting opened with the Pledge, Rotary Motto, prayer and lunch. The Installation dinner went well. D.K. Lee is the new Director for Rotary International. The theme for 2008-2009 is "Make Dreams Real". Welcome Home to the Troops event at Midway Airport at 9pm tonight. People are invited to meet by the Southwest Airlines baggage carousel to applaud troops returning home. Cal distributed the Members Program Schedule for June 25 - November 12. The July 16 meeting will be held at Lutherbrook. It will include lunch and a tour of the facility. District Governor Mike Slevnik will visit and address the club on July 30. Janis Jordan is responsible for next week's speaker. Don Weiss requested that the Elmhurst Hospital presentation be moved from September 10 to September 17. This meeting will include Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce. Scott Helton will be responsible for the speaker for the meeting on September 10. Cal visited the Safety Village in Elmhurst. It is made of small brick buildings. Donors are designated on a plaque at the entrance and one individual buildings. Their safety village cost $125,000 when it was built 9 years ago. The architect for the Addison Park District projects that a similar project would cost the Addison Rotary $250,000 to build. Ron Burns thanked Matt Delawder for the time and effort he devoted to his position as Assistant Governor for Rotary District 6450 for the past three years. Meeting adjourned at 1:08 p.m. |
