Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
Guest: Jim Lombardo The meeting opened with “ America ”, the pledge, the 4-way test and prayer. The Installation dinner for new officers will be held at Solace 601, 601 W. Army Trail Blvd , on Friday, June 26. 6pm social hour, 7pm dinner. Dues notices have been sent out. The District Governor's Installation is Sunday, June 28 at 3:00pm. Don Hendricks and Gary Sinagra will be attending. The club has three prospective new members: Pet Call; Irene Boutzarelos and the manager of Oxford Bank. The speaker for the day was Jim Lombardo, from the Addison Community Switchboard. The Switchboard is a 501 (c)(3) organization which was founded in 1970 to help ‘plug' people into social service agencies. The Switchboard is located in the Henry Hyde Resource Center at 193 W. Michael Lane . The Switchboard provides: Food Pantry – clients must be referred by the schools, churches, Village or Police Department. Referrals are good for 6 months. Fresh bread is available every day. Clients can select food from the pantry. Special food pickup opportunities are also offered twice a year at the VFW parking lot (Rotary volunteers helped with the most recent special pickup in May). Clothes Closet – clients are welcome to take whatever they want General Assistance – Financial assistance is available for medical, dental and optical care, prescriptions, utility bills (up to a yearly maximum amount) Holiday program – Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday boxes and gifts are provided to needy families and seniors The Switchboard welcomes all donations and volunteers and is grateful for the support it receives from the entire community. |
