George Ellefsen introduced the speaker for the day, Chris Kachiroubas, DuPage Circuit Court Clerk. Kachiroubas shared information about the 18th Circuit, which is the 2nd largest court circuit in Illinois. DuPage has 44 judges and 42 courtrooms. The Clerk's office is responsible for keeping records for the court. Some records, such as those from murder cases, must be kept for 60 years after the punishment for the crime has been terminated. Other records, such as those from the 190,000 traffic tickets and 300,000 violations that are issued each year, must be kept for 3 years.

Traffic tickets provide $20million in revenue for DuPage County. They are the 3rd largest revenue source for the county.

Several millions of dollars in fines have gone uncollected over the years. Kachiroubas has worked to correct the situation. the States Attorney allowe the clerk to go back through 19 years of records and over $5 million has been collected due to this effort.

Meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m.
