  • Scott Helton announced that Addison Trail High School was named on Newsweek's list of the top American high schools. This list represents the top 6% of high school in the nation.
  • Gary Sinagra urged members to attend the MCCD Golf Outing banquet on Monday, June 15 at Alta Villa at 6:30pm.

Don Weiss introduced the day's speaker, Adam Andrzejewski. Andrzejewski is a Republican who became the first candidate for Governor of Illinois, when he declared his intention to run for office on March 1. Andrzejewski built a business, Home Pages (telephone directories), with his brother. After 10 years, he left the business to work in non-profits, forming an organization called “For the Good of Illinois” which worked with government agencies, encouraging them to post their agency's checkbooks online, making financial information readily available to citizens.

Andrzejewski decided to run for office in order to provide leadership and push back against bad policies. He feels that “We the people” must reform government.

His campaign will emphasize three big ideas:

  • Political theme – “I believe it's your turn”
  • Policy theme – “Every dime online in real time”

As a Republican he feels his primary responsibility is to defend the taxpayer. He believes that spending cuts are necessary(since revenue can not always continue grow)and that 100% financial transparency by government agencies can help the average person locate areas of financial excess in government budgets.

  • Politics/Policy theme – “All of the new ideas require new people.”

Andrzejewski encourages citizens to become involved with his campaign and in the reform of bad politics. A volunteer sign-up/information sheet was circulated. For more information, see //www.adamforillinois.com.

The installation dinner for Bob Smith and the 09-10 Addison Rotary officers will be held at Solace on Friday, June 26 at 6:00pm (7pm dinner). The club will pay for members and will bill for spouses that attend. Please contact Cal George if you plan to attend. Dress will be casual.

Don Hendricks had polled club members via email for approval of a $500 donation to be made to the Kankakee Rotary in order to help support an Exchange student from Mexico. The donation was approved.

The meeting adjourned at 1:30pm
