Rotarians are needed to unload a truck and set out food on Friday, May 22 from 9am to 1pm. The truck will unload at the VFW Hall on Lake Street (behind Subway). This event will happen rain or shine. Kiwanis are also volunteering.

Salt Creek clean-up with Interact Club is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 beginning at 8:30am. Lunch will be served at Cricket Creek after all canoes are in.

Rotary will award one $1000 scholarship to a student from the ATHS Interact Club. The Interact Club also raised $1000 for a scholarship of their own.

Tom Geraghty announced that Carolyn Boni has resigned from Rotary, because Republic Bank will not be continuing their membership.

A $1000 donation will be made to Alliance for Smiles in July. At that time, we can apply for a matching foundation simplified grant.

Matt Delawder presented on Community Service in Rotary—employing time, talents and resources to respond to critical community needs. Rotary service projects should be relevant to the community, serve as a learning experience, anchor the club to the community, determine how Rotary can help with the resources they have at hand, serve as a membership recruitment tool, be based on realistic goals & expectations and be self-sustaining. Clubs can also be successful by looking to partner with other organizations—hospitals, nursing home, schools, churches, and other service organizations. Potential projects can include children at risk, disabled, literacy, poverty & hunger, urban concerns and more.

Human Services Project sent a letter thanking the Addison Rotary for sponsorship donation.

Dictionaries were not purchased this year for Addison 3 rd grade students even though it was intended to be an ongoing project. It was suggested that we purchase them for 3 rd and 4 th graders next year.

George Ellefsen asked Lucille Zucchero about purchasing Rotary benches for the Village green. Lucille said that the donation of benches might need board approval, but she didn't think that would be any problem. If the benches are purchased, the club can consider purchasing plaques for the benches which would honor Bernie McCoy and other former members of the club.

Clean up day at the Army Trail Nature Center went well. Don Hendricks shared photos of the event.

The club was asked to consider making a donation to Honor Flight, a program which flies World War II veterans from Chicago to Washington, D. C. in order to see the WWII Memorial located by the Washington Monument .

The meeting adjourned at 1:30pm
