Guest: Jorge DeLeon The meeting opened with the Pledge, Rotary Motto, prayer and lunch. Next week's Rotary meeting, Wednesday, May 6, is being held at Easter Seals, 830 S. Please let Don H. know if you're planning to attend the Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 7, 7:30am at Glendale Lakes Golf Club. Ron Burns will be joining the attendees. Next Saturday, May 9, 9-11am, is the Park District's 2nd Annual Park Pride Clean & Green Day. The Interact Club will be working at the Army Trail Nature Center (Lombard and Army Trail, directly west of Addison Trail High School ). Rotarians are encouraged to spend a couple hours working with the students to spruce up the Nature Center . For more info see: http://www.addisonparkdistrict.org/ Volunteers are need to help unload trucks for the food drive on Friday, May 22, 9am-1pm, at the VFW hall on Lake Street . At least 6 workers are needed Jorge DeLeon shared information about the Interact Club's work with PADS at the Itasca Presbyterian Church. The students made and served dinner on December 30. They will be working at the shelter again on Tuesday, May 5 to Wednesday, May 6/ Eric Engle has also gotten the Interact Club involved with the Sudanese Center in Naperville . The club donated $500 for folding chairs and make chair cushion covers. Canoe training is scheduled for May 9 in the afternoon at Busse Woods. Salt Creek Clean up is scheduled for Saturday, May 30. Jorge is trying to get 12 canoes for the event. A motion was made to spend up to $400 to rent canoes for the cleanup. Motion carried. Jorge talked about the Chicago Voyager outdoor education program. A 3-day program costs $450 for 6 students. A motion was made to provide a $1000 scholarship for an ATHS student and a $1000 for a Driscoll student. Motion carried. It was suggested that a wine tasting fundraiser be scheduled for fall. We could also sell raffle tickets at a Cougar game and raffle off a TV.
