Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
Guests:Dick Phelan, Jim Sianta The meeting opened with “ America ”, the pledge, the 4-way test and prayer. Cal George announced that there will be a board meeting at 11:30am next Wednesday, March 25. The Rotary will, once again, sponsor the Senior Spring Breakfast to be held at Wesley School on Wednesday, April 22. The Rotary District Conference will be held April 30-May 2 at The Abbey in Lake Geneva . Bob Smith is unable to attend. Don Hendricks can attend some of the conference. Anyone who is interested in attending should notify Cal . The District Assembly is on April 4 in Willowbrook. Breakfast is at 7:45am, the assembly runs from 8:30am-noon. Three members can attend for free. Contact Cal if available. We will host a candidate luncheon on Wednesday, April 1 at Alta Villa. The Kiwanis Club will be unable to attend (due to their annual Pancake Breakfast on April 4). Candidates and Addison Chamber members have been invited to attend. Cal shared a story of a Rotarian who persisted in Rotary involvement over the years despite Nazi and communist suppression of service clubs. Bob Smith introduced the speakers for the day, Dick Phelan and Jim Sianta, representing Merrill Lynch's Oakbrook office. Dick has been with Lynch for 40 year, Jim for 13 years and they spoke to the hard economic times that we are currently facing and what it means to investors and investment firms. They also shared Bob Doll's twelve predictions for 2009. Doll is Vice Chairman and Director of BlackRock. The meeting adjourned at 1:25pm
