Approximately 25 students will participate in the event which is expected to run from 9:00am - 2:00pm. George Ellefsen will coordinate the picnic lunch at the end of the day. Jorge DeLeon will do a scouting trip on the segment of creek that it slated for cleaning. He will also conduct a training session to teach students how to canoe.

George Ellefsen announced an Itasca Lions cocktail party/raffle night. He passed around a raffle ticket for members who were willing to join together to purchase one.

Karen Lesniak, Marketing Director for NEDSRA (North East DuPage Special Recreation Association) thanked the Rotary for their financial support. NEDSRA, which is composed of 11 member partners-8 park districts and 3 villages-provides community-based recreation for people of all ages with special needs. Programs offered include day camps, travel programs, day trips, social clubs and more. NEDSRA offers age-appropriate programs and works to meet individual needs by taking typical park district activities and moderating them for their clientele. NEDSRA emphasizes andith people's abilities, rather than focusing on their disabilities. A program that NEDSRA is currently working to develop further is beep baseball. The sport provides adaptive equipment which allows the visually impaired to play baseball. Funding is being sought, since the cost for two beep baseball bases is $800.

The meeting adjourned at 1:13p.m.
