Addison Rotary Meeting

Meeting opened at with Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch.

Thanks to the Rotary for the check for Driscoll High School.

Don Hendricks thanked those who attended the Chicago Rush game. It was a fun event and $10 from each ticket purchased was donated to Easter Seals.

The Interact Installation Luncheon meeting at Addison Trail went well. Thank you to all involved. Jorge DeLeon announced that there will be a Luau Dance fundraiser on April 4, 2008. The proceeds from the dance will go toward scholarships. Jorge requested $200 from the Rotary as a loan to buy supplies for the dance. Motion made by Ron Burns. Motion carried.

Membership Drive - In the past year, the Addison Rotary has lost 4 members and gained 4 members. Members are encouraged to invite friends and associates to consider joining Rotary.

Members are also encouraged to come up with ideas for a quick fundraiser.

Ron Burns shared an email communication he'd received from Chelle O'Connell. She is currently working in Elmhurst.

Ron Burns made a motion, seconded by Cal George to donate $900 to the Humanitarian Service Project with an additional donation to be made later in the year. Motion carried.

Simeon Carson, Development Coordinator for Lutheran Child and Family Services, thanked the Rotary for their support of Lutherbrook over the years. He shared information about the history of LCFS which began in 1873 as an orphan home for 6 children and has, to date, served over 35,000 people. Simeon shared information about Lutherbrook and Lutherbrook Academy and the ways in which they serve children, many of whom are victims of abuse and deal with severe emotional and behavioral problems. LCFS is hosting a fundraiser, the Golf "Fore" Kids Charity Outing in Tuesday, June 10 at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Sponsorships are available. Golfers are invited to participate.
