The meeting opened with America , the Pledge, 4-Way Test and invocation.

Bill Schaub introduced John Welk, a long time Addison resident who decided to visit the club after seeing the information in the Addison Independent.

Don Weiss and Bill Schaub reported on the Carol Stream Rotary Appreciation Mixer that was held last week. The event ran from 5:30-7:30pm. There was no formal program, but the Rotary President spoke for about 5 minutes, welcoming guests and sharing some information about their club. There was a sign-in sheet at the entrance where a Powerpoint slide show showed photos of club activities and the club's exchange student was present. Postcard invitations had been sent out a month prior to the event and guests were able to RSVP through the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce. Appetizers and an open bar were provided.

Don spoke with Dee and Chip from the Addison Chamber and they expressed an interest in helping the Addison Rotary host an ‘after hours' event. If we were to sponsor an event like this, members would have to make a strong effort to welcome guests and share information about the club. Representatives of organizations that benefit from Addison Rotary could be invited to speak on behalf of their clients and the work done by Rotary.

Gary Sinagra suggested that we develop a half sheet flyer that he could attach to pizza boxes and that members could make available to the community in their places of business.

Ray Sohl shared information about the Kane County Cougars, a single A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Single A baseball is the first experience ballplayers have in professional baseball and 102 players who have been with the Cougars have ended up in the big league. The Cougars are a very customer and community focused team that likes to make the game an enjoyable outing for their fans. Over the winter they added an upper deck along with 15 suites to the ballpark. Suites are available for nightly rentals and hold 25-30 people. They also have a Super Suite that accommodates 150-200 people. The club is happy to work with church or school groups, businesses and organizations in order to plan events, including picnic packages. August 31 is scheduled at a Service Night where discounts are offered to members of service organizations. The team begins its 72 game season on April 13

Meeting was adjourned at 1:30.
