Addison Rotary Meeting Members present:
Guest: Marc Valdez, Driscoll High School The meeting opened with America , the Pledge, 4-Way Test and invocation. The club celebrated Jim & Barb Krage's anniversary and Matt Delawder's birthday with song. Speaker assignments for the upcoming weeks are: February 25, Bob Watson The scheduled speaker for today's meeting was unable to attend. The Addison Trail Interact Club is working on plans for this year's creek cleanup. The club will be getting tshirts and a banner. Tony Cimino will order the banner. A vote was taken to see whether the club members wish to move the weekly meetings to a new location. The majority voted to remain at Alta Villa. It was suggested that Cal George speak to Enzo to see whether Alta Villa is interested in continuing to host the weekly meetings. Bob Smith visited a new Rotary Club that his father has helped to establish in Pompano Beach . The John Knox Village Rotary is the newest (most recently established) and oldest (average member age) club in Florida . Discussion was held regarding the Addison Rotary's membership breakfast or lunch meeting. Don Weiss suggested that the club might want to partner with the Addison Chamber to host a Business After Hours event to promote the Rotary. Representatives of organizations that benefit from Addison Rotary could be invited to speak on behalf of their clients and the work done by Rotary. A mailing could be sent out and members could specifically target individuals and businesses with follow-up phone calls. Don will be attending a Rotary-Chamber event in Carol Stream and will report back to the club next week. The May 6 meeting will be held at Easter Seals in Villa Park . Gary Sinagra will cater lunch. Meeting was adjourned at 1:30. |
