Addison Rotary Meeting January 23, 2008

Guest: Trisha Svehla Meeting opened at with Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch. Don Hendricks announced that the Rotary will purchase three new felt banners. Cathy Olivi will reattach the individual 'flags' to the banners. The club will be purchasing dictionaries for 300+ 3 rd graders. Half the dictionaries will be English/Spanish. The cost of the dictionaries is $654. Labels which identify the Addison Rotary as the donor will be purchased for the books. 6 th -8 th grade students will be encouraged to enter the 4-Way Test Essay Contest. Prizes are $150, $100 and $50 for 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd places, respectively. The Addison Rotary will award prizes of $100, $50 and $25. The first 'Shape of Addison ' Town Hall meeting will be held Wednesday, January 30 at 7pm at Village Hall. Representatives from the governmental agencies will present information and answer questions. This event is being sponsored by Itasca Bank. A district event will be held on March 3-Chicago Rush arena football game. 100% of ticket sales go to Rotary. Our club will pay $10 of ticket price. A sign up sheet will be passed around at the January 30 meeting. George Ellefsen , Tom Geraghty and Don Hendricks attended the Kiwanis 50 th anniversary celebration. Tom Meyer, a charter member of the Addison Kiwanis, was at the event. The newly established Addison Trail Interact Club will be recognized at a luncheon meeting to be held at noon on Wednesday, February 27 in the Blazer Room at Addison Trail. Rotarians can park in the circle drive on the west side of the school for that event. Bobbie Jo DeFily introduced the speaker for the day, Trisha Svehla, President of Managing the Mosaic, a company which specializes in Human Resource Consulting. Trisha shared information about the difference in communication styles between men and women and the importance of understanding the difference. Matt Delawder has the speaker for the January 30 meeting, Cal George is responsible for the February 6 speaker The meeting adjourned at 1:20p.m. |
