Addison Rotary Meeting January 16, 2008 Members present:
Guest: Mark McKinnon & Geri Estvanik, Addison Park District Meeting opened at with 'America ', Pledge, Rotary motto, prayer and lunch. Don Hendricks announced that the Addison Kiwanis will be celebrating their 50 th anniversary at a banquet at Oak Meadow on Friday, January 18. George Ellefsen, Tom Geraghty and Don Hendricks will be attending. Rotary will pay for dinner for any other club members that are interested in attending. A District 6450 meeting was held Saturday. A district event will be held on March 3-Chicago Rush arena football game. 100% of ticket sales go to Rotary. An auction will be held. Please notify Don at next week's meeting if you would like to attend. The newly established Addison Trail Interact Club will be recognized at a luncheon meeting to be held at noon on Wednesday, February 27 in the Blazer Room at Addison Trail. Rotarians can park in the circle drive on the west side of the school for that event. Bobbie Jo DeFily has the speaker for the January 23 meeting. Bill Schaub announced that the citrus sale is almost complete-payment needs to be turned in for two orders. Tom Geraghty announced that the last quarter billing will be sent out next week. George Ellefsen announced that last year the club made $997 by investing in CDs. Janis Jordan introduced Mark McKinnon and Geri Estvanik who spoke on the Park District's upcoming referendum on February 5. The Park District is seeking $14 million to build a new Aquatic Center ($12 million), a lighted multi-purpose synthetic turf playing field and 2 smaller grass playing fields ($2 million) to be constructed at Centennial Park . They spoke of the reasons for the new pool plan and the advantages of building a synthetic turf field. If the referendum passes, the grand opening is targeted for summer of 2010. Referendum information nights are planned for January 17 and 29 for anyone who would like additional information about the project. The meeting adjourned at 1:26p.m.
